WHAT ARE EARLY INTERVENTION AND NDT?

Early intervention means early detection and evaluation of high risk infants who have potential conditions for developing serious neuro-developmental problems like visual or hearing impairments ,special learning disabilities, movement disorders, attention deficits, hyperactive & distractive behavior, poor impulse control below 0-3years of age.

It also means stimulating/educating/training/managing/supporting a person with disability early in life.

NDT (Neuro developmental therapy) is a program where child will have a set of specific movements which aims to promote developments to the nervous system and the inhibition of primitive reflexes.

HOW CAN THIS THERAPY HELP FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN?

When children are born, their brain is not fully developed; it will be still in the process of development and change. It becomes 75% developed within 3-4 years and 25% developed after 3-4 years of child. Therefore main concept of early intervention is stimulating the brain and bringing brings changes or development in that critical period which is below 3 years. The success of early intervention programmers with infants indicates that neural tissue can response to stimulation to facilitate healthy movements. Early intervention technique has succeeded in preventing to many disabilities at a later stage.

As a result of NDT intervention the children will use the new or regained posture, or movement strategies to carryout life skills more efficiently. This strategy will minimize secondary impairments that can create additional functional limitations or disability

HOW DO WE WORK WITH THIS CHILIDREN?

After an initiation in depth evaluation by our Physiotherapist, a decision will be taken with parents concerning appropriate assesment in order to better understand the nature of the infant or child problems. Treatments goal will be set & progress will be reported on informally and in writing at regular intervals.
